Intro

Welcome!

This site will give a brief overview of a case study project in the context of an interdisciplinary course at the University of Duisburg-Essen in winter term 2008/09.

The project aimed to solve the problem of unpersonal and static advertising, causing high cost for advertisers and irritated customers. Additionally, it wanted to provide visitors of Essen – the european capital of culture 2010 – helpful information for planning their journey.

In the final realization, context information about people are recorded from implicit and explicit interaction with the system using bluetooth technology and mobile device applications. The context data and advert informations are stored on a central server, permitting interest analysis, matching of adverts to a certain group of people and report generation for advertisers.
